I’ve been trying to track down some of my older blog posts from back in the days when I was coding my own CMS platform over at CycleSixtySix.com. I’ve found a few that were worth revisiting. The following are some of the ones I found worthy.
This is another oldie-but-goodie and it’s oddly relevant to my current situation almost 5 years later. I’m not nearly as dour as I was 5 years ago. I’m much happier now and even my present career track, despite not being where I intend to stay for much longer, is a much better place than where I was in 2004. Regardless, it’s interesting to take a look back and see what lessons I can learn from history.

Nutshell: I’m not happy here. “Here” being the keyboard in the cave from which I’m typing this entry. I don’t think that’s any real secret though.
I had a lead that I followed and it seems to have taken me down the path for which I hoped least. I’m doing my best to strike the Nietzsche pose and cry “that which does not kill me only makes me stronger!”.
But, sometimes the cuts that bleed hurt a bit before they scar.
Not that I’m really feeling sorry for myself. Just pissed in general. It’s human nature, especially for me, to play out every possible scenario and prepare for certain sacrifices. When you are prepared for an event, watching it fizzle is a bit of a let down. It’s like waiting for fireworks on July 4th to find that it’s nothing but some guy with sparklers. The upshot is that I while I don’t have to make those sacrfices, I’m now confronted with other sacrifices I was doing my best to ignore.
So, where do we go from here?? Forward, always. Time to lower my head, dig deep, and charge forward like a pissed off rhino. While this experiment seems to have run it’s course, perhaps there are other lessons to be learned of which I’m unaware.
It’s time for Cycle to actually get some wheels and for me to finish my formal education. It may not be the simplest method, but when your address is firmly on the road less traveled you have to expect such things.
