I don’t own a PS3 but this almost makes me want one. This preview alone is infinitely better than either of the two movies!

Just a quick post to ask; What would today’s equivalent be of the old rock flyers of the 80s?? I mean, this just screams “retro” with a heavy dose of “AWESOME!!”

So what do we have today? What could possibly keep up with that kind of homegrown “please come see my show so I can eat” effort? Is MySpace the closest we get these days? Mind you, I’m no luddite, but I do shed the occasional tear for trends long since lost to the years. Just sayin’. I love me some vintage RAWK!
That’s right, Chuck D said it and I just copped it. Yeeeeaaahhhhh Booooyyy!!
Seriously, you’re either laughing or you’re dead inside. Either way, copping a Chuck D lyric made a better title than “Regrets and Damned Lies, the sequel.” I just finished listening to the final part of Pastor Gary Lamb’s “Rebel” series from Revolution Church. I was really connecting with this series. Granted, you slap the word “rebel” on anything and I’m likely to go all James Dean pose. The series lived up to the hype and I wasn’t disappointed. And I avoided posing, which was very appropriate given the topic at hand.
This shouldn’t be quite as funny as it is. There are moments where the use of some terminology is, I think, unintentionally ironic, or jokes that are a bit too base. I’m going to assume that they were modeling it on Spinal Tap and choice of the word “flamers” is meant to be internally inconsistent to be satirical. Otherwise there were some some really bad choices that lose the message under the weight of the very problem the video was trying to address.
As satire, I think it’s great. In case you’re not sure, satire is designed to offend, push buttons, make you uncomfortable or flat out offend (ever seen South Park?). In that regard this video succeeds on tons of levels. It’s also a caricature that I think I tread dangerously close to becoming –seriously, PLEASE tell me I don’t come off this way on GotSpirit!!!– so it’s also a bit of a wake-up call.

So, this weekend the Steelers took #6 and set an NFL record. I didn’t get to see the game (alas, life and priorities called) but I’m still proud to be a Steel City Native!
Tonight is the first night of the Married Couples Small Group. Weather and time permitting we’ll actually make it on time and still manage to get atleast a few hours of sleep before Jess has to wake up for work. Which, btw, I still contend, any job that requires you to get up before the sun rises is technically “night shift.” Just sayin’.
