Albe’s Road Trip to Athens, GA

May

The Albe’s Team came down to our neck of the woods recently (Twilight trip? No idea.) They hit up some of the more notorious spots on campus and a few even I didn’t recognize. For instance, where in the blue hell is that indoor park? Is that in Athens??

The next “Rad”??

Apr

Came across this today and immediately thought of Rad.  Honestly, I think a version of Rad for this generation is long overdue. The story seems to be similar, a hometown kid rises up against the odds, with the additional “gritty” factor upped by the way of street-crime and a kid from a bad neighborhood. It’s your standard redemption story which, ideally, will be bookended by some awesome riding. I don’t know if I’ll pay to see it in a first-run but if I can catch it at a $1 theater or on DVD I’ll be all over it.  Even if the narrative is sorta tired and the acting sub-par (both of which are common to these kind of indie flicks IMO) I’ll still step up to support something that showcases a sport I love (and hate

Everything is coming up Devon!

I tell ya, the kid is everywhere these days! He’s blowing up! Sooo crazy to me that he’s about to graduate. I can still remember when we was “little” kid in the shows.   If you want to know more about the Boy Wonder I keep posting about, check out his interview over at BMXUnion: http://www.bmxunion.com/blog/interview/devon-smillie-interview/

If you haven’t heard of Devon, there’s a good chance you don’t really ride that much, or you are too busy actually riding. In the last probably two months he has had this explosion of web videos that seemed like he had come out every other day. The talent Devon holds got my attention and I started getting more and more curious what this guy was all about. I figured I’d see if he would be into an interview, and he came through.

Now I want to find out if I can convince BnB to do a show so I can announce it before Devon is too busy winning Dew Tour stops!

I’m not sure which is more sick, the trick itself or the fact that the feat had Scotty Cranmer in awe.

A ~5’9″ bunnyhop. One word: sickness.

More Old Skool Goodness

More footage from the Old School Weekend thanks to ESPN.com. I really can’t put into words how exciting this is for me to watch. Even cooler? I’ve seen and/or rode with a few of these guys. STOKED! These are the roots kids and it’s nice to see these guys still link it up or throw down.  Particularly it’s awesome to see Hoffman out there killing it on vert. From what I understand, due in large part to a recent car accident, there was a very good chance that Hoffman might never ride again.  Totally rad to see him out there blasting huge air and the signature no-handers like only Condor can!
